BUTTERFLY CHAIR
NL | Renate’s Butterfly Chair (2013), is geïnspireerd op het traditionele model oorfauteuils. Een duidelijk karakter in haar werk is de combinatie van textiele materialen en de techniek van het vouwen. Haar ontwerpen zijn minimalistisch te noemen. Een altijd ogenschijnlijke logische manier van construeren kenmerkt haar ontwerpen. Dit is in bijna al haar werk terug te vinden, zo ook in de Butterfly chair, die deel uitmaakt van de PopUp Linen collectie. Een typische design aspect van deze Butterfly chair zijn de twee losse onderdelen die, wanneer deze worden samengebracht, ze transformeren in de uiteindelijke vorm en functie van stoel. De vouwbare zitting neem zijn kuipvorm aan wanneer deze tussen de twee steunen van het frame wordt geduwd. De spanning die hier ontstaat tussen de twee elementen is eigenlijk de basis van de constructie. Er zijn geen extra verbindingen nodig om de stoel te laten bestaan.

The foldable seating takes its form when pushed between the poles of the frame. The tension who appears between these two elements is basically the main construction. There is no need for extra fixing between these two elements to create this chair.
